Foot Flavor

Posted by Tiffany Cooper

Spring is here and that means it’s time to break out the sandals, flip-flips and peep-toe shoes.  (Yes, I know that many of you enjoy this weather year round! Please refrain from rubbing it in. :-))  You may also already know that our dear Lori has a major foot phobia.  As for me, I’m a lotion fanatic. I lotion my feet every morning and most nights in an attempt to rid my feet free of annoying dry skin.

So we want to know what your foot flavor is! Are you a pedicure kind of gal? Clear or polished toes?  Dark or light colors?  Give us your footsie details!

What’s Your Flavor … Weddings

I haven’t been too whoop-ti-do about this big wedding.

Maybe it is because we’ve been to hundreds of weddings.

One year Jud did 36 weddings. In a year. 36. That’s a bunch.

We’ve seen some crazy stuff in weddings.

We’ve seen a stupid groom fall into the baptistry while he was tight-rope walking along the edge just before the wedding.

We’ve seen a groom writing over and over on a white board, “I will get married today. I will get married today.”

We’ve seen the couple forget to have the candles lit, so they had to yell for a lighter when it was time to light the unity candle.

We’ve seen a bride stop the vows and say, “Roses are red. Violets are blue. Here’s a song, that I’ll sing for you.” Followed by tone-deaf singing. Followed by incredible amounts of inappropriate laughing by me.

I’m sure William and Kate won’t have anything as interesting and entertaining as that. I’m sure everything will be perfection.

In a few hours, I’m sure Kate will have a beautiful fairy-tale wedding.

We had a pretty great wedding too. Not royal, and uber-expensive or anything … but it was lovely. And while I certainly wouldn’t change the outcome, I would do a few things differently now.

Almost 15 years later:
– I would ditch the Christmas wedding for a wedding on the beach in the summer.
– I would give up my very large, very Victorian dress for something simple and modern.
– I would skip The Wedding March, and instead would walk down the aisle to “Beautiful” by Smashing Pumpkins or “Date for Life” by Aunt Betsy … both songs we loved at the time.
– I would get myself a great photographer instead of the sweet little man who took ours.

Ok … so three big questions for you this weekend:

1. What are some crazy things you’ve seen at weddings?

2. If you planned your dream wedding today, would you change anything from your wedding or would you leave it all the same?

3. Did you watch William and Kate get hitched? What did you think?

What’s Your Flavor … Best Apps Ever

We’ve talked Best of TV and Best Movies Ever.

Now … onto Apps. Whether you have a Blackberry, iPhone, other Smartphone, or iPad, you probably have some Apps that you wouldn’t want to part with. Here are the Top 5 that I use on a daily, and sometimes hourly basis.

1. Twitbird Pro: I do 99% of Twitter activity on my phone. And this, is THE BEST app available … and trust me, I’ve literally tried them all. I manage my Twitter life in lists, and this totally handles them wonderfully.

2. Angry Birds: Now, I know I’m not the only one with a slight addiction to this game. When a new update comes out, I feel like a kid at Christmas. It is a special gift just for me.

3. YouVersion: I was one of the slow embracers of YouVersion. Shocking, I know. But I really like my obnoxiously big Notemaker’s Bible. Once YouVersion added Devotional Plans, I was hooked. I just finished the 21 Day Plan for Busy Women and have Words of Jesus During Passion Week heading into Easter. Fantastic ways to start my mornings.

4. Words With Friends: Oh mercy … how I love playing Words With Friends. One giant Scrabble game with my friends around the country? Yes, please. If you happen to play, I’m loriwilhite there. Pretty simple. Sometimes I can’t see every game that is started with me. So if I don’t start playing with you quickly, just send me your WWF username, and I’ll start one with you!

5. Kindle: I love, love, love reading on my Kindle app. I always have a book with me no matter where I am. And, if I finish a book at 10pm, no worries … my next book is a click away. I never thought I would give up actually holding a real-life book in my hand. But I don’t miss it at all. And since Jud and I share an Amazon account, we can still share all of our books.

What’s Your Flavor … Best TV Ever

Last week you gave me your insight on the best movies ever. Most of you had quite impressive lists of movies. There were a few surprises that jumped in there, though! I might have to rewatch a few so I can see if they are really “Best Movie Ever” material. 🙂

Now, on to TV. Here are my Top 5 Best TV Shows Ever … or at least recent ones because I can’t get my mind out of what I’m currently watching.

1. Friday Night Lights Whether you like Texas & Football or just like stinkin’ amazing acting, this is one of our all-time favorite shows. Being from Texas, we’ve sat in these homes, and we know these people. My friend who has recently started watching said she feels like she knows me so much better after watching the show. Some Texas things just hold true, no matter where you move! The final season has already wrapped on DirectTV and will begin airing on NBC next week.

2. Vampire Diaries Best. Show. On. TV. Don’t judge. 🙂 This is the vampire show that makes Twilight look like a joke & Edward a wimp. I talked Brandi into watching this while Pete was in India. And, she will agree with me! And the best part of this show, is that this is one of the few that Jud watches with me.

3.  Alias and 24: These shows both premiered at the same time. At the time, we opted for JJ Abrams + Jennifer Garner = Fabulous! Jud and I used to watch this show every Sunday night after a long day at church. Yes, it got a little strange in the last couple of seasons, but it had one of the most satisfying series finales ever. Then, when Alias ended, we started Season 1 of 24 … and … wow. Gotta love Jack Bauer.

4. Modern Family: Hilarious! I laugh and laugh and laugh. Phil is my favorite. Watch that clip, and you’ll see why.

5. Survivor and Amazing Race: I have watched literally every episode of these Reality Shows. I love a good competition reality show. And for those of you who care … this year I’m Team-Rob and Team-Zev-and-Justin. As far as that other competition show goes (American Idol), I am Team-Quirky-Voice-Whatever-His-Name-Is-Guy.

Honorable mention goes to: Friends, Star Trek Next Generation, Little House on the Prairie, and Seinfeld.

What’s Your Flavor … Best Movies Ever

About 2 years ago, I asked people what their favorite movies were of all time. And, I was shocked … shocked, I tell you … at some of their answers. So, I think it is time again to ask: What are you Top 5 movies Ever?

Now, these are not the movies that I’ve seen the most times. Shoot, I’ll watch a movie I don’t really like over and over. I’ve seen “Leap Year” like three times, and it really wasn’t good. But these are my favorites. Here is my Top 5 in no particular order

1. Pride and Prejudice: I don’t care if it is Keira Knightly, Colin Firth, or the Bollywood musical version … I will pretty much love any Pride & Prejudice movie. And if you haven’t seen the Bollywood version … you really, really should.

2. About a Boy: I love British humor … and I love Hugh Grant. I drug my husband to this quirky little movie about community where there were about 4 other people in the theater. I remember Jud slapping his leg so loud that one of those other four people turned around to look.

3. the first 10 minutes of Up This is probably the single best piece of animation ever. Ever. If you need a reminder, just watch the four minutes below. Grab a kleenex first.

4. Gladiator: You know that part where Maximus is standing in the middle of the arena, and he pulls off his helmet and says: “My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius … Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.” Oh. My. Word. Chills every time. FYI, totally googled that quote. Didn’t have it memorized or anything crazy like that. 🙂

5. Lord of the Rings– Fellowship of the Ring: Jud and I have watched this on Christmas Day for years … probably since it first came out on DVD. It is so good, and amazingly creative. The film making is astounding. I mean, really, who doesn’t love a hobbit?! Of course, my favorite was Legolas and his continual cleanliness.

*Honorable mention goes to Slumdog Millionaire, Juno, Braveheart, and The Matrix

Your turn. What are your Top 5 movies?
