What’s Your Flavor … Musicals

Friday, July 9th, 2010

My kids love to sing. They are both currently whooping it up with voice lessons. But my Emma is my always singing, always dancing, always acting little diva.

So … now that our family has finally hit summer, I have declared that every Monday will be Musical Monday. I don’t know if the boys will participate with us or not, but we girls are going to watch and enjoy a new musical every Monday.

I think we are going to start old school and try either Oklahoma (because Emma should share in the joy of singing “Poor Jud is Daid …” to her dad) or My Fair Lady.

We will truck on with our musicals until she either gets tired of them or we run out of ones that are kid-appropriate.

So … new or old … what’s your favorite musical?

And FYI … every Saturday night will be SuperHero Saturday … I can’t leave my little guy out completely!

What’s Your Flavor … Summer Reading

Friday, June 25th, 2010

There is little better than poolside reading or a book on the beach.

But I’m kind of stuck with not much to read right now.

So … since you gave me such great suggestions for summer TV, I would love your thoughts for my summer reading list.

All I really have lined up now is “The Help.” I was thinking of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” since there is so much buzz, but I’m not sure it is really my kind of book.

What is my kind of book? Well … I’m glad you asked.

I lean toward Historical Fiction although I don’t mind the occasional Fantasy book either, but I’m open to anything good.

I’m already covered on the non-fiction front. So … lay on the awesome fiction suggestions, please! What’s on your summer reading list?

What’s Your Flavor … Brag on Your Blog

Friday, June 18th, 2010

I love to connect with you guys, read your blogs, learn about your families. And I think it is high time I update my personal RSS feed.

Since I know I’m not the only one who would like to connect via bloggy-world, I want to do a mass pimping of  blogs so that we can check out each other’s online worlds.

If you have a blog, please leave us the link. And if you don’t have a blog, tell us your favorite Pastor’s Wife or Woman in Ministry blog that you do read.

Ok … please, brag away! :)

What’s Your Flavor … TV on DVD

Friday, June 11th, 2010

During the hideous summer slump of nothing on TV, we always catch up on some great show that we’ve been missing.

Over the years we’ve watched some pretty awesome TV on DVD:

- Jack Bauer saving the world on 24
- Coach Taylor, Riggins, Texas football and Friday Night Lights
- Michael Weston and his awesome sunglasses on Burn Notice
I’ve been thinking maybe Gilmore Girls … for me, doubt Jud would go for that. Someone suggested The Good Wife. Any thoughts on those?

So … I need suggestions for our summer entertainment.

We are super eclectic but a few things are off limits:

- medical dramas … we don’t like seeing people’s innards on our bigscreen

- law dramas … you can only watch people yell at other people on the stand so many times

- lameness … although that probably goes without saying

So, what is your flavor when it comes to TV shows? What is the best thing out there that we’ve been missing? And if it is available on Hulu you get extra points since it is free.

What’s Your Flavor … Don’t Stop Believin’

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Way back in the late 80s I was T-shirt-dress-wearing, Kirk-Cameron-poster-hanging, New-Kids-on-the-Block-listening, Cory-Haim-loving, Jr-High-attending, giant-bangs kind of girl.

My awesome husband in the late 80s was a Mullet-wearing, Heavy-Metal-playing, Fiero-driving, High-School-Graduating, rule-breaking kind of guy.

Some of you might have been singing Barney songs in the 80s while others of you were rockin’ those stirrup pants on college campuses. What kind of 80s kid were you?

And for your viewing pleasure … a little Journey with a Glee-make-over that our team at Central did for our Celebration weekend. Click through on RSS or FB to see the video.
